Creator ROAS formula

Creator ROAS = creator-attributed revenue รท included creator spend. If a defined cohort has $20,000 in attributed revenue and $5,000 in included spend, the reported creator ROAS is 4.0x.

State what counts as spend

Possible inputs include creator fees, commissions, product cost, shipping, platform fees, agency cost, tooling, paid amplification, and internal labor. Omitting a material cost may make two programs look comparable when they are not.

State what counts as revenue

Specify gross or net revenue, refunds, cancellations, tax, shipping, currency, and attribution method. A platform-reported value and a storefront-reconciled value may legitimately differ.

ROAS is not incrementality or profit

ROAS describes attributed revenue relative to selected spend. It does not by itself measure contribution margin, lifetime value, cash timing, or the revenue that would not have occurred without the program.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good creator ROAS?

There is no universal threshold. The useful target depends on gross margin, costs included, attribution coverage, repeat purchase, cash cycle, and the alternative use of budget.

Should gifted product count as spend?

If the goal is an economic efficiency measure, teams should usually include a consistently defined product and fulfillment cost. State the convention.

Can creator ROAS be compared with paid-social ROAS?

Only after aligning revenue definitions, attribution windows, cost scope, and incrementality assumptions. Even then, the channels may play different roles.
